Staggered Facades

RIV// stands for grand, urban, and yet quiet living in a special part of Amsterdam: the green area of the Rivierenbuurt, surrounded by water. RIV// adapts to the local environment, the materialization of the red bricks refers to the architecture of the Amsterdam School that is so characteristic for Oud Zuid and the Rivierenbuurt. The light and stately apartment building has special staggered facades, large windows, and high entrances. The outdoor feeling is brought into the house through the balconies, terraces and roof terraces that offer fine views over the nature, water and city.

Exploring Spacious Living

RIV// responds to the great need for spacious family homes in the city of Amsterdam. The location of this residential building is unique: on the Kop van Zuidas, between the liveliness of the Pijp and the Rivierenbuurt, surrounded by greenery. The leafy and spacious Amstel River area is just around the corner from the complex. The favourable location and the specific characteristics of the location form the basis of the design: the staggered blocks in the facade provide light and visibility into the homes, while at the same time offering generous outdoor spaces and privacy.

Connecting Building and Context

RIV// is rooted in its context and connects with the city. It is a building with stature, with high entrances and large doors, which match the quality of living. At the same time, it is accessible: the detailing and the staggered facade give the substantial building volume a scale that is in line with the human dimension. The apartment complex consists of apartment for rent and apartments for sale, which in terms of architecture read as one building. The material and appearance of the residential building are related to the architecture of the Rivierenbuurt, the subtle quality of the Amsterdam School.

Creating High-Quality Homes

The quality of living in the complex is paramount; they are high-quality and spacious homes, with spacious outdoor areas, a wide view and a favourable orientation for optimal sunlight entry. The balconies are directly adjacent to the living rooms of the apartments, so that indoor and outdoor living flow smoothly into one another. The houses on the ground floor have a terrace garden, located at the patio and accessible via the public road on Gaasterlandstraat.
